“We can do this Soul.” Maka growled to herself as she tightened her grip on Scythe Soul.
“Maka, she’s too powerful, if we go through this, we’re going to die.” Soul warned her as they looked up at their enemy.
They were dealing with one of the most wanted witch’s in death city. She was six feet tall, and had a smile that shouted out danger. She wore camouflage, and strapped all around her torso was a belt that held all the weapons he needed, ranging from grenades to rifles. In her combat boots, she had a knife, not well hidden. Although this witch knew her magic, she preferred to cause destruction.
“Stay positive Soul. This is the witch soul we need.” Maka said as she crouched into her attack position.
“Maka, don’t do it, let’s wait for Black*Star and Kidd.” Soul said.
“We can do this Soul.” Maka growled at him.
The witch smirked at them, grabbing one of her grenades and throwing it at them.
Soul and Maka jumped out of the way and ducked for cover as the grenade landed on the ground and exploded there.
“Maka! Let’s go!” Soul exclaimed.
“No, I got this.” She said as she ran for the enemy, pulling Soul behind her and swinging him forward, Soul’s blade swiped at the air as the witch backed away and then tackled her to the ground, causing Soul to clash on the ground next to them.
“This is too easy.” The witch chuckled as she grabbed a small gun from her belt and pointed it at Maka.
Soul transformed into his human from and pushed the witch off of Maka. The witch pulled the trigger as she fell to the ground next to Maka and the sound of a bullet flying and the sickening sound of it hitting a body hit their ears.
Soul fell back with the impact of the bullet, sucking in his breath in pain.
“Soul!” Maka yelled out, reaching out for him.
“She’s getting away.” Soul growled as he saw the witch run into an abandoned building.
“Soul, are you okay?” Maka asked him.
“It’s just my arm Maka, I’ll be fine.” Soul said through clenched teeth as he sat up. “Let’s go Maka.” Soul growled, standing up and running in towards the building, his hand grabbing at the arm that was shot at.
“Soul! No!” Maka called out, running after him.
“No Maka. She was going to kill you, she made this personal.” He growled.
Maka saw the fierce look in his eye. “Soul?” she asked.
Soul started to run towards the entrance of the building, Maka there with him every step of the way until they reached the door. Soul hugged her with his good arm and then pushed her away, quickly getting inside and locking the door behind him.
Maka stared at him. “Soul?” she called out, banging on the door.
She saw Soul say something, but she couldn’t hear him. “What?”
Soul looked at his bloody hand and started to write the letter back words so that she would understand… “Goodbye?” she whispered. “Soul, no! Kid and Black*Star should be here any minute now!” she exclaimed, banging against the door.
Soul held his hand up against the door and mouthed the words that Maka could read.
With tears in her eyes, she held her hand up against the door as if it were on top of his. “I love you too.” She whispered, her forehead leaning against the door.
Soul leaned his in and then stood up, without looking back; he went off and take care of the person that threatened his meister’s life.
“Soul!” Maka called out, banging against the door, but there was no use. She stood up and ran to find the nearest rock. She threw it at the door, but it only bounced off of it.
Maka went to find something bigger, but that when she heard it… the first of the many explosions that sent the building up in flames.
“SOUL!” she yelled out.
Just as she was about to run in to get Soul the hell out of there, a pair of arms wrapped around her torso and held her back. “Maka, you can’t go in there.” Kid told her.
Maka thrashed against his hold. “You weren’t here soon enough!” she screamed, tears rolling down her cheeks.
“Maka, I tried my best to get here as soon as possible.”
“Soul is in there!” Maka yelled in frustration pointing to the building.
“We can’t do anything Maka!” Kidd yelled back at her.
Maka let her guard down and fell on her knees hunching forwards as she cried. “Soul!” she kept yelling until her throat hurt.
Kid looked down at Maka and his heart went out to her, he hoped he would never have to suffer the way she is right now.
“Soul.” Maka whispered, hugging herself as she felt a hollow feeling start to fill her.
A/N:So sorry you guys! I’ve had this scene going on in my head since yesterday! Had to put it out here somehow!
Well Mr. A, there is the death of Soul.
